The Human (ADAMTS8) A Disintegrin and Metalloproteinase with Thrombospondin Motifs 8 ELISA Kit measures A Disintegrin and Metalloproteinase with Thrombospondin Motifs 8 in samples. The plate has been pre-coated with Human ADAMTS8 antibody. ADAMTS8 present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated Human ADAMTS8 Antibody is added and binds to ADAMTS8 in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated ADAMTS8 antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of Human ADAMTS8. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.

Background A disintegrin and metalloproteinase with thrombospondin motifs 8 is an enzyme that in humans is encoded by the ADAMTS8 gene. This gene encodes a member of the ADAMTS (a disintegrin and metalloproteinase with thrombospondin motifs) protein family. Members of the family share several distinct protein modules, including a propeptide region, a metalloproteinase domain, a disintegrin-like domain, and a thrombospondin type 1 (TS) motif. Individual members of this family differ in the number of C-terminal TS motifs, and some have unique C-terminal domains.
