Bovine HMGCL (Hydroxymethylglutaryl-CoA Lyase) ELISA Kit
Bovine HMGCL (Hydroxymethylglutaryl-CoA Lyase) ELISA Kit
The Bovine (HMGCL) Hydroxymethylglutaryl-CoA Lyase ELISA Kit measures Hydroxymethylglutaryl-CoA lyase in Bovine samples. The plate has been pre-coated with Bovine HMGCL antibody. HMGCL present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated Bovine HMGCL Antibody is added and binds to HMGCL in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated HMGCL antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of Bovine HMGCL. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.

Background
Mitochondrial 3-hydroxymethyl-3-methylglutaryl-CoA lyase that catalyzes a cation-dependent cleavage of (S)-3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl-CoA into acetyl-CoA and acetoacetate, a key step in ketogenesis. Terminal step in leucine catabolism. Ketone bodies (beta-hydroxybutyrate, acetoacetate and acetone) are essential as an alternative source of energy to glucose, as lipid precursors and as regulators of metabolism.
