The Bovine (IL-18) Interleukin 18 ELISA Kit measures Interleukin 18 in Bovine samples. The plate has been pre-coated with Bovine IL18 antibody. IL18 present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated Bovine IL18 Antibody is added and binds to IL18 in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated IL18 antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of Bovine IL18. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.

Background
A proinflammatory cytokine primarily involved in polarized T-helper 1 (Th1) cell and natural killer (NK) cell immune responses. Upon binding to IL18R1 and IL18RAP, forms a signaling ternary complex which activates NF-kappa-B, triggering synthesis of inflammatory mediators.
