The Human (ACOX1) Peroxisomal Acyl-coenzyme Aoxidase 1 ELISA Kit measures Peroxisomal Acyl-Coenzyme A Oxidase 1 in samples. The plate has been pre-coated with Human ACOX1 antibody. ACOX1 present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated Human ACOX1 Antibody is added and binds to ACOX1 in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated ACOX1 antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of Human ACOX1. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.

Background
Catalyzes the desaturation of acyl-CoAs to 2-trans-enoyl-CoAs. First enzyme of the fatty acid beta-oxidation pathway. [Isoform 1]: Shows highest activity against medium-chain fatty acyl-CoAs and activity decreases with increasing chain length. [Isoform 2]: Is active against a much broader range of substrates and shows activity towards very long-chain acyl-CoAs. Is twice as active as isoform 1 against 16-hydroxy-palmitoyl-CoA and is 25% more active against 1,16-hexadecanodioyl-CoA. Source: UniProt Consortium (2025)
