The Human (IRF2) Interferon Regulatory Factor 2 ELISA Kit measures Interferon Regulatory Factor 2 in samples. The plate has been pre-coated with Human IRF2 antibody. IRF2 present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated Human IRF2 Antibody is added and binds to IRF2 in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated IRF2 antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of Human IRF2. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.

Background
Specifically binds to the upstream regulatory region of type I IFN and IFN-inducible MHC class I genes (the interferon consensus sequence (ICS)) and represses those genes. Also acts as an activator for several genes including H4 and IL7. Constitutively binds to the ISRE promoter to activate IL7. Involved in cell cycle regulation through binding the site II (HiNF-M) promoter region of H4 and activating transcription during cell growth. Antagonizes IRF1 transcriptional activation.
