The Human (IRF9) Interferon Regulatory Factor 9 ELISA Kit measures Interferon Regulatory Factor 9 in samples. The plate has been pre-coated with Human IRF9 antibody. IRF9 present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated Human IRF9 Antibody is added and binds to IRF9 in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated IRF9 antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of Human IRF9. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.

Background
Transcription factor that plays an essential role in anti-viral immunity. It mediates signaling by type I IFNs (IFN-alpha and IFN-beta). Following type I IFN binding to cell surface receptors, Jak kinases (TYK2 and JAK1) are activated, leading to tyrosine phosphorylation of STAT1 and STAT2. IRF9/ISGF3G associates with the phosphorylated STAT1:STAT2 dimer to form a complex termed ISGF3 transcription factor, that enters the nucleus. ISGF3 binds to the IFN stimulated response element (ISRE) to activate the transcription of interferon stimulated genes, which drive the cell in an antiviral state. Source: UniProt Consortium (2025)
