The Human (KIF1A) Kinesin-like Protein Kif1A ELISA Kit measures Kinesin-like protein KIF1A in samples. The plate has been pre-coated with Human KIF1A antibody. KIF1A present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated Human KIF1A Antibody is added and binds to KIF1A in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated KIF1A antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of Human KIF1A. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.

Background
Motor for anterograde axonal transport of synaptic vesicle precursors. Also required for neuronal dense core vesicles (DCVs) transport to the dendritic spines and axons. The interaction calcium-dependent with CALM1 increases vesicle motility and interaction with the scaffolding proteins PPFIA2 and TANC2 recruits DCVs to synaptic sites.
