The Human (KIF5B) Kinesin-1 Heavy Chain ELISA Kit measures Kinesin-1 Heavy Chain in samples. The plate has been pre-coated with Human KIF5B antibody. KIF5B present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated Human KIF5B Antibody is added and binds to KIF5B in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated KIF5B antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of Human KIF5B. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.

Background
Microtubule-dependent motor required for normal distribution of mitochondria and lysosomes. Can induce formation of neurite-like membrane protrusions in non-neuronal cells in a ZFYVE27-dependent manner (By similarity). Regulates centrosome and nuclear positioning during mitotic entry. During the G2 phase of the cell cycle in a BICD2-dependent manner, antagonizes dynein function and drives the separation of nuclei and centrosomes (PubMed: 20386726).
