The Human (KLK6) Kallikrein 6 ELISA Kit measures Kallikrein 6 in samples. The plate has been pre-coated with Human KLK6 antibody. KLK6 present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated Human KLK6 Antibody is added and binds to KLK6 in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated KLK6 antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of Human KLK6. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.

Background
Serine protease which exhibits a preference for Arg over Lys in the substrate P1 position and for Ser or Pro in the P2 position. Shows activity against amyloid precursor protein, myelin basic protein, gelatin, casein and extracellular matrix proteins such as fibronectin, laminin, vitronectin and collagen. Degrades alpha-synuclein and prevents its polymerization, indicating that it may be involved in the pathogenesis of Parkinson disease and other synucleinopathies. May be involved in regulation of axon outgrowth following spinal cord injury.
