Human KRT23 (Keratin 23) ELISA Kit
Human KRT23 (Keratin 23) ELISA Kit
The Human (KRT23) Keratin 23 ELISA Kit measures Keratin 23 in samples. The plate has been pre-coated with Human KRT23 antibody. KRT23 present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated Human KRT23 Antibody is added and binds to KRT23 in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated KRT23 antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of Human KRT23. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.

Background
Keratin, type I cytoskeletal 23 is a protein that in humans is encoded by the KRT23 gene. The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the keratin family. The keratins are intermediate filament proteins responsible for the structural integrity of epithelial cells and are subdivided into cytokeratin and hair keratin. The type I cytokeratins consist of acidic proteins which are arranged in pairs of heterotypic keratin chains. The type I cytokeratin genes are clustered in a region of chromosome 17q12-q21.
