Human MAPT (Microtubule-associated Protein Tau) ELISA Kit
Human MAPT (Microtubule-associated Protein Tau) ELISA Kit
The Human (MAPT) Microtubule-associated Protein Tau ELISA Kit measures microtubule-associated protein tau in samples. The plate has been pre-coated with Human MAPT antibody. MAPT present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated Human MAPT Antibody is added and binds to MAPT in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated MAPT antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of Human MAPT. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.

Background
Promotes microtubule assembly and stability, and might be involved in the establishment and maintenance of neuronal polarity (PubMed:21985311).
The C-terminus binds axonal microtubules while the N-terminus binds neural plasma membrane components, suggesting that tau functions as a linker protein between both (PubMed:21985311, PubMed:32961270).
Axonal polarity is predetermined by TAU/MAPT localization (in the neuronal cell) in the domain of the cell body defined by the centrosome. The short isoforms allow plasticity of the cytoskeleton whereas the longer isoforms may preferentially play a role in its stabilization. Source: UniProt Consortium (2025)
