Human MLYCD (Malonyl-CoA Decarboxylase) ELISA Kit
Human MLYCD (Malonyl-CoA Decarboxylase) ELISA Kit
The Human (MLYCD) Malonyl-CoA Decarboxylase ELISA Kit measures Malonyl-CoA decarboxylase in samples. The plate has been pre-coated with Human MLYCD antibody. MLYCD present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated Human MLYCD Antibody is added and binds to MLYCD in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated MLYCD antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of Human MLYCD. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.

Background
Catalyzes the conversion of malonyl-CoA to acetyl-CoA. In the fatty acid biosynthesis MCD selectively removes malonyl-CoA and thus assures that methyl-malonyl-CoA is the only chain elongating substrate for fatty acid synthase and that fatty acids with multiple methyl side chains are produced. In peroxisomes it may be involved in degrading intraperoxisomal malonyl-CoA, which is generated by the peroxisomal beta-oxidation of odd chain-length dicarboxylic fatty acids. Plays a role in the metabolic balance between glucose and lipid oxidation in muscle independent of alterations in insulin signaling. May play a role in controlling the extent of ischemic injury by promoting glucose oxidation. Source: UniProt Consortium (2025)
