The Human (MMP-14) Matrix Metalloproteinase 14 ELISA Kit measures Matrix Metalloproteinase 14 in samples. The plate has been pre-coated with Human MMP14 antibody. MMP14 present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated Human MMP14 Antibody is added and binds to MMP14 in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated MMP14 antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of Human MMP14. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.

Background
Endopeptidase that degrades various components of the extracellular matrix such as collagen. Activates progelatinase A. Essential for pericellular collagenolysis and modeling of skeletal and extraskeletal connective tissues during development (By similarity). May be involved in actin cytoskeleton reorganization by cleaving PTK7 (PubMed: 20837484). Acts as a positive regulator of cell growth and migration via activation of MMP15. Involved in the formation of the fibrovascular tissues in association with pro-MMP2 (PubMed: 12714657). Cleaves ADGRB1 to release vasculostatin-40 which inhibits angiogenesis (PubMed: 22330140).
