Human MRPL17 (39S Ribosomal Protein L17, Mitochondrial) ELISA Kit

Human MRPL17 (39S Ribosomal Protein L17, Mitochondrial) ELISA Kit

The Human (MRPL17) 39S Ribosomal Protein L17, Mitochondrial ELISA Kit measures 39S ribosomal protein L17, mitochondrial in samples. The plate has been pre-coated with Human MRPL17 antibody. MRPL17 present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated Human MRPL17 Antibody is added and binds to MRPL17 in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated MRPL17 antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of Human MRPL17. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.

Background 39S ribosomal protein L17, mitochondrial is a protein that in humans is encoded by the MRPL17 gene. Mammalian mitochondrial ribosomal proteins are encoded by nuclear genes and help in protein synthesis within the mitochondrion. Mitochondrial ribosomes (mitoribosomes) consist of a small 28S subunit and a large 39S subunit. They have an estimated 75% protein to rRNA composition compared to prokaryotic ribosomes, where this ratio is reversed. Another difference between mammalian mitoribosomes and prokaryotic ribosomes is that the latter contain a 5S rRNA. Among different species, the proteins comprising the mitoribosome differ greatly in sequence, and sometimes in biochemical properties, which prevents easy recognition by sequence homology. This gene encodes a 39S subunit protein. Source: UniProt Consortium (2025)
