The Human (NCAPD3) Condensin-2 Complex Subunit D3 ELISA Kit measures Condensin-2 complex subunit D3 in samples. The plate has been pre-coated with Human NCAPD3 antibody. NCAPD3 present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated Human NCAPD3 Antibody is added and binds to NCAPD3 in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated NCAPD3 antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of Human NCAPD3. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.

Background
Regulatory subunit of the condensin-2 complex, a complex which establishes mitotic chromosome architecture and is involved in physical rigidity of the chromatid axis (PubMed:14532007).
May promote the resolution of double-strand DNA catenanes (intertwines) between sister chromatids. Condensin-mediated compaction likely increases tension in catenated sister chromatids, providing directionality for type II topoisomerase-mediated strand exchanges toward chromatid decatenation. Specifically required for decatenation of centromeric ultrafine DNA bridges during anaphase. Early in neurogenesis, may play an essential role to ensure accurate mitotic chromosome condensation in neuron stem cells, ultimately affecting neuron pool and cortex size (PubMed:27737959).
