The Human (NOTCH2) Neurogenic Locus Notch Homolog Protein 2 ELISA Kit measures Neurogenic Locus Notch Homolog Protein 2 in samples. The plate has been pre-coated with Human NOTCH2 antibody. NOTCH2 present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated Human NOTCH2 Antibody is added and binds to NOTCH2 in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated NOTCH2 antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of Human NOTCH2. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.

Background
Functions as a receptor for membrane-bound ligands Jagged-1 (JAG1), Jagged-2 (JAG2) and Delta-1 (DLL1) to regulate cell-fate determination. Upon ligand activation through the released notch intracellular domain (NICD) it forms a transcriptional activator complex with RBPJ/RBPSUH and activates genes of the enhancer of split locus (PubMed: 21378985, PubMed: 21378989). Affects the implementation of differentiation, proliferation and apoptotic programs (By similarity). Involved in bone remodeling and homeostasis. In collaboration with RELA/p65 enhances NFATc1 promoter activity and positively regulates RANKL-induced osteoclast differentiation (PubMed: 29149593).
