Human NYX (Nyctalopin) ELISA Kit
Human NYX (Nyctalopin) ELISA Kit
The Human (NYX) Nyctalopin ELISA Kit measures Nyctalopin in samples. The plate has been pre-coated with Human NYX antibody. NYX present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated Human NYX Antibody is added and binds to NYX in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated NYX antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of Human NYX. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.

Background
Nyctalopin is a protein located on the surface of photoreceptor-to-ON bipolar cell synapse in the retina. It is composed of 481 amino acids and is encoded in human by the NYX gene. This gene is found on the chromosome X and has two exons. This protein is a leucine-rich proteoglycan which is expressed in the eye, spleen and brain in mice. Mutations in this gene cause congenital stationary night blindness in humans (CSNB).
