The Human (OSBPL8) Oxysterol Binding Protein Like Protein 8 ELISA Kit measures Oxysterol Binding Protein Like Protein 8 in samples. The plate has been pre-coated with Human OSBPL8 antibody. OSBPL8 present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated Human OSBPL8 Antibody is added and binds to OSBPL8 in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated OSBPL8 antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of Human OSBPL8. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.

Background
Lipid transporter involved in lipid countertransport between the endoplasmic reticulum and the plasma membrane: specifically exchanges phosphatidylserine with phosphatidylinositol 4-phosphate (PI4P), delivering phosphatidylserine to the plasma membrane in exchange for PI4P, which is degraded by the SAC1/SACM1L phosphatase in the endoplasmic reticulum. Binds phosphatidylserine and PI4P in a mutually exclusive manner (PubMed: 26206935). Binds oxysterol, 25-hydroxycholesterol and cholesterol (PubMed: 17428193, PubMed: 17991739, PubMed: 21698267).
