The Human (PAFAH2) Platelet-activating Factor Acetylhydrolase 2, Cytoplasmic ELISA Kit measures Platelet-activating factor acetylhydrolase 2,cytoplasmic in samples. The plate has been pre-coated with Human PAFAH2 antibody. PAFAH2 present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated Human PAFAH2 Antibody is added and binds to PAFAH2 in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated PAFAH2 antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of Human PAFAH2. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.
BackgroundCatalyzes the hydrolyze of the acetyl group at the sn-2 position of platelet-activating factor (PAF) and its analogs, leading to their inactivation (PubMed:9494101).
Hydrolyzes propionyl and butyroyl moieties approximately half as effectively as PAF (By similarity).
Also catalyzes transacetylation of the acetyl group from platelet-activating factor (PAF) to lysoplasmalogen and to sphingosine, producing plasmalogen analogs of PAF and N-acetylsphingosine (C2-ceramide) respectively. Has a marked selectivity for phospholipids with short acyl chains at the sn-2 position (By similarity). Source: UniProt Consortium (2025)
