The Human (PDX1) Pancreas Duodenum Homeobox Protein 1 ELISA Kit measures Pancreas/Duodenum Homeobox Protein 1 in samples. The plate has been pre-coated with Human PDX1 antibody. PDX1 present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated Human PDX1 Antibody is added and binds to PDX1 in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated PDX1 antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of Human PDX1. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.

Background
Activates insulin, somatostatin, glucokinase, islet amyloid polypeptide and glucose transporter type 2 gene transcription. Particularly involved in glucose-dependent regulation of insulin gene transcription. As part of a PDX1:PBX1b:MEIS2b complex in pancreatic acinar cells is involved in the transcriptional activation of the ELA1 enhancer; the complex binds to the enhancer B element and cooperates with the transcription factor 1 complex (PTF1) bound to the enhancer A element. Binds preferentially the DNA motif 5'-[CT]TAAT[TG]-3'. During development, specifies the early pancreatic epithelium, permitting its proliferation, branching and subsequent differentiation.
