Human PKP2 (Plakophilin 2) ELISA Kit
Human PKP2 (Plakophilin 2) ELISA Kit
The Human (PKP2) Plakophilin 2 ELISA Kit measures Plakophilin 2 in samples. The plate has been pre-coated with Human PKP2 antibody. PKP2 present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated Human PKP2 Antibody is added and binds to PKP2 in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated PKP2 antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of Human PKP2. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.

Background
Plakophilin-2 is a protein that in humans is encoded by the PKP2 gene. Plakophilin 2 is expressed in skin and cardiac muscle, where it functions to link cadherins to intermediate filaments in the cytoskeleton. In cardiac muscle, plakophilin-2 is found in desmosome structures located within intercalated discs. Mutations in PKP2 have been shown to be causal in arrhythmogenic right ventricular cardiomyopathy.
