The Human (PLIN2) Perilipin-2 ELISA Kit measures Perilipin-2 in samples. The plate has been pre-coated with Human PLIN2 antibody. PLIN2 present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated Human PLIN2 Antibody is added and binds to PLIN2 in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated PLIN2 antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of Human PLIN2. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.

Background
Adipose differentiation-related protein, also known as perilipin 2 , ADRP or adipophilin, is a protein which belongs from PAT family of cytoplasmic lipid droplet(CLD) binding protein. In humans it is encoded by the ADFP gene. This protein surrounds the lipid droplet along with phospholipids and are involved in assisting the storage of neutral lipids within the lipid droplets.
