Human Prostate-Specific Antigen (KLK3) ELISA Kit

Human Prostate-Specific Antigen (KLK3) ELISA Kit

This ELISA kit is designed to detect Human Prostate-Specific Antigen (Human KLK3). The assay plate has been pre-coated with mouse anti-Human KLK3 monoclonal antibody. When the sample containing KLK3 is added to the plate, it binds to the antibodies coated on the wells. Then, a horseradish peroxidase conjugated mouse anti-Human KLK3 Antibody is added to the wells and binds to KLK3 in the sample. After washing the wells, substrate solutions are added, and the color intensity is directly proportional to the amount of Human KLK3 present. The reaction is stopped by adding an acidic stop solution, and the absorbance is measured at 450 nm.

Background KLK3 (Kallikrein Related Peptidase 3) is a Protein Coding gene. The gene is one of the fifteen kallikrein subfamily members located in a cluster on chromosome 19. It encodes a single-chain glycoprotein, a protease that is synthesized in the epithelial cells of the prostate gland and is present in seminal plasma. KLK3, also known as Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA), kallikrein-related peptidase 3, Gamma-seminoprotein, is a secreted protein of the glandular kallikrein subfamily of serine proteases. KLK3 contains one peptidase S1 domain. KLK3 is a glycoprotein produced almost exclusively by the prostate gland. Growing evidence suggests that many kallikreins are implicated in carcinogenesis and some have potential as novel cancer and other disease biomarkers.
