The Human (PTCH1) Protein Patched Homolog 1 ELISA Kit measures Protein Patched Homolog 1 in samples. The plate has been pre-coated with Human PTCH1 antibody. PTCH1 present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated Human PTCH1 Antibody is added and binds to PTCH1 in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated PTCH1 antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of Human PTCH1. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.

Background
Acts as a receptor for sonic hedgehog (SHH), indian hedgehog (IHH) and desert hedgehog (DHH). Associates with the smoothened protein (SMO) to transduce the hedgehog's proteins signal.
