The Human (RACGAP1) Rac Gtpase-activating Protein 1 ELISA Kit measures Rac Gtpase-Activating Protein 1 in samples. The plate has been pre-coated with Human RACGAP1 antibody. RACGAP1 present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated Human RACGAP1 Antibody is added and binds to RACGAP1 in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated RACGAP1 antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of Human RACGAP1. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.

Background
Component of the centralspindlin complex that serves as a microtubule-dependent and Rho-mediated signaling required for the myosin contractile ring formation during the cell cycle cytokinesis. Required for proper attachment of the midbody to the cell membrane during cytokinesis. Plays key roles in controlling cell growth and differentiation of hematopoietic cells through mechanisms other than regulating Rac GTPase activity. Also involved in the regulation of growth-related processes in adipocytes and myoblasts. May be involved in regulating spermatogenesis and in the RACGAP1 pathway in neuronal proliferation. Shows strong GAP (GTPase activation) activity towards CDC42 and RAC1 and less towards RHOA. Essential for the early stages of embryogenesis.
