Human RHO (Rhodopsin) ELISA Kit
Human RHO (Rhodopsin) ELISA Kit
The Human (RHO) Rhodopsin ELISA Kit measures Rhodopsin in samples. The plate has been pre-coated with Human RHO antibody. RHO present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated Human RHO Antibody is added and binds to RHO in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated RHO antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of Human RHO. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.

Background
Photoreceptor required for image-forming vision at low light intensity (PubMed: 8107847, PubMed: 7846071). Required for photoreceptor cell viability after birth (PubMed: 2215617, PubMed: 12566452). Light-induced isomerization of the chromophore 11-cis-retinal to all-trans-retinal triggers a conformational change that activates signaling via G-proteins (PubMed: 8107847, PubMed: 28524165, PubMed: 26200343, PubMed: 28753425). Subsequent receptor phosphorylation mediates displacement of the bound G-protein alpha subunit by the arrestin SAG and terminates signaling (PubMed: 28524165, PubMed: 26200343).
