Human Von Willebrand Factor (VWF) ELISA Kit

Human Von Willebrand Factor (VWF) ELISA Kit

This ELISA kit is designed to detect Human Von Willebrand Factor (Human VWF). The assay plate has been pre-coated with mouse anti-Human Von Willebrand Factor monoclonal antibody. When the sample containing Von Willebrand Factor is added to the plate, it binds to the antibodies coated on the wells. Then, a horseradish peroxidase conjugated mouse anti-Human Von Willebrand Factor Antibody is added to the wells and binds to Von Willebrand Factor in the sample. After washing the wells, substrate solutions are added, and the color intensity is directly proportional to the amount of Human Von Willebrand Factor present. The reaction is stopped by adding an acidic stop solution, and the absorbance is measured at 450 nm.

Background Von Willebrand Factor (VWF) is a multimeric glycoprotein involved in hemostasis in blood, binds receptors on the surface of platelets and in connective tissue, thereby mediating the adhesion of platelets to sites of vascular injury. From studies it appears that VWF protein uncoils under these circumstances, decelerating passing platelets. VWF protein is deficient or defective in von Willebrand disease (VWD) and is involved in a large number of other diseases, including thrombosis, thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura, Stroke, Heyde's syndrome, possibly hemolytic-uremic syndrome and so on.
