Canine ALDH3A1 (Aldehyde Dehydrogenase) ELISA Kit
Canine ALDH3A1 (Aldehyde Dehydrogenase) ELISA Kit
The Canine (ALDH3A1) Aldehyde Dehydrogenase ELISA Kit measures Aldehyde dehydrogenase in Canine samples. The plate has been pre-coated with Canine ALDH3A1 antibody. ALDH3A1 present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated Canine ALDH3A1 Antibody is added and binds to ALDH3A1 in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated ALDH3A1 antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of Canine ALDH3A1. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.

Background
ALDHs play a major role in the detoxification of alcohol-derived acetaldehyde (Probable). They are involved in the metabolism of corticosteroids, biogenic amines, neurotransmitters, and lipid peroxidation (Probable). Oxidizes medium and long chain aldehydes into non-toxic fatty acids (By similarity).
Preferentially oxidizes aromatic aldehyde substrates (By similarity).
Comprises about 50 percent of corneal epithelial soluble proteins (By similarity).
May play a role in preventing corneal damage caused by ultraviolet light (By similarity). Source: UniProt Consortium (2025)
