Chicken OTF (Ovotransferrin) ELISA Kit
The Chicken (OTF) Ovotransferrin ELISA Kit measures Ovotransferrin in Chicken samples. The plate has been pre-coated with Chicken OTF antibody. OTF present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated Chicken OTF Antibody is added and binds to OTF in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated OTF antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of Chicken OTF. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.

Background
Transferrins are iron binding transport proteins which can bind two Fe3+ ions in association with the binding of an anion, usually bicarbonate. Responsible for the transport of iron from sites of absorption and heme degradation to those of storage and utilization. There are two forms of hen transferrin, ovotransferrin, found in the ovoducts and, serum transferrin, secreted by the liver. Serum transferrin may also have a role in stimulating cell proliferation and is regulated by iron levels. Ovotransferrin has a bacteriostatic function and, is not controlled by iron levels.
