The Goat (IL-1A) Interleukin 1 Alpha ELISA Kit measures Interleukin 1alpha in Goat samples. The plate has been pre-coated with Goat IL-1alpha antibody. IL- 1alpha present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated Goat IL-1alpha Antibody is added and binds to IL-1alpha in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated IL-1alpha antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of Goat IL-1alpha. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.

Background
Produced by activated macrophages, IL-1 stimulates thymocyte proliferation by inducing IL-2 release, B-cell maturation and proliferation, and fibroblast growth factor activity. IL-1 proteins are involved in the inflammatory response, being identified as endogenous pyrogens, and are reported to stimulate the release of prostaglandin and collagenase from synovial cells (By similarity).
