Human Activin Receptor-Like Kinase 1 (ACVRL1) ELISA Kit
Human Activin Receptor-Like Kinase 1 (ACVRL1) ELISA Kit
This ELISA kit is designed to detect Human Activin Receptor-Like Kinase 1 (Human ACVRL1). The assay plate has been pre-coated with mouse anti-Human ALK-1 monoclonal antibody. When the sample containing ALK-1 is added to the plate, it binds to the antibodies coated on the wells. Then, a horseradish peroxidase conjugated mouse anti-Human ALK-1 Antibody is added to the wells and binds to ALK-1 in the sample. After washing the wells, substrate solutions are added, and the color intensity is directly proportional to the amount of Human ALK-1 present. The reaction is stopped by adding an acidic stop solution, and the absorbance is measured at 450 nm.

Background
Activin A receptor, type II-like 1 (ACVRL1), also known as ALK-1 (activin receptor-like kinase 1), is an endothelial-specific type I receptor of the TGF-beta (transforming growth factor beta) receptor family of ligands. On ligand binding, a heteromeric receptor complex forms consisting of two type II and two type I transmembrane serine/threonine kinases. ACVRL1 protein is expressed in certain blood vessels of kidney, spleen, heart and intestine, serving as an important role during vascular development. Mutations in ACVRL1 gene are associated with hemorrhagic telangiectasia type 2, also known as Rendu-Osler-Weber syndrome 2 and vascular disease.
