The Human (APOC2) Apolipoprotein C-2 ELISA Kit measures Apolipoprotein C-2 in samples. The plate has been pre-coated with Human APOC2 antibody. APOC2 present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated Human APOC2 Antibody is added and binds to APOC2 in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated APOC2 antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of Human APOC2. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.

Background
Component of chylomicrons, very low-density lipoproteins (VLDL), low-density lipoproteins (LDL), and high-density lipoproteins (HDL) in plasma. Plays an important role in lipoprotein metabolism as an activator of lipoprotein lipase. Both proapolipoprotein C-II and apolipoprotein C-II can activate lipoprotein lipase.
