Human BAX (Apoptosis Regulator Bax) ELISA Kit
Human BAX (Apoptosis Regulator Bax) ELISA Kit
The Human (BAX) Apoptosis Regulator Bax ELISA Kit measures Apoptosis regulator BAX in samples. The plate has been pre-coated with Human BAX antibody. BAX present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated Human BAX Antibody is added and binds to BAX in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated BAX antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of Human BAX. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.

Background
Plays a role in the mitochondrial apoptotic process. Under normal conditions, BAX is largely cytosolic via constant retrotranslocation from mitochondria to the cytosol mediated by BCL2L1/Bcl-xL, which avoids accumulation of toxic BAX levels at the mitochondrial outer membrane (MOM) (PubMed:21458670).
Under stress conditions, undergoes a conformation change that causes translocation to the mitochondrion membrane, leading to the release of cytochrome c that then triggers apoptosis. Promotes activation of CASP3, and thereby apoptosis. Source: UniProt Consortium (2025)
