Human BGAL (Beta-galactosidase) ELISA Kit

Human BGAL (Beta-galactosidase) ELISA Kit

The Human (BGAL) Beta-galactosidase ELISA Kit measures beta-Galactosidase in samples. The plate has been pre-coated with Human GLB1 antibody. GLB1 present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated Human GLB1 Antibody is added and binds to GLB1 in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated GLB1 antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of Human GLB1. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.

Background [Isoform 1]: Cleaves beta-linked terminal galactosyl residues from gangliosides, glycoproteins, and glycosaminoglycans. [Isoform 2]: Has no beta-galactosidase catalytic activity, but plays functional roles in the formation of extracellular elastic fibers (elastogenesis) and in the development of connective tissue. Seems to be identical to the elastin-binding protein (EBP), a major component of the non-integrin cell surface receptor expressed on fibroblasts, smooth muscle cells, chondroblasts, leukocytes, and certain cancer cell types. In elastin producing cells, associates with tropoelastin intracellularly and functions as a recycling molecular chaperone which facilitates the secretions of tropoelastin and its assembly into elastic fibers.
