The Human (BLMH) Bleomycin Hydrolase ELISA Kit measures Bleomycin Hydrolase in samples. The plate has been pre-coated with Human BLMH antibody. BLMH present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated Human BLMH Antibody is added and binds to BLMH in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated BLMH antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of Human BLMH. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.

Background
The normal physiological role of BLM hydrolase is unknown, but it catalyzes the inactivation of the antitumor drug BLM (a glycopeptide) by hydrolyzing the carboxamide bond of its B-aminoalaninamide moiety thus protecting normal and malignant cells from BLM toxicity.
