The Human (C4BPB) C4B-binding Protein Beta Chain ELISA Kit measures C4b-binding protein beta chain in samples. The plate has been pre-coated with Human C4BPB antibody. C4BPB present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated Human C4BPB Antibody is added and binds to C4BPB in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated C4BPB antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of Human C4BPB. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.

Background
Controls the classical pathway of complement activation. It binds as a cofactor to C3b/C4b inactivator (C3bINA), which then hydrolyzes the complement fragment C4b. It also accelerates the degradation of the C4bC2a complex (C3 convertase) by dissociating the complement fragment C2a.
