The Human (CENPK) Centromere Protein K ELISA Kit measures Centromere Protein K in samples. The plate has been pre-coated with Human CENPK antibody. CENPK present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated Human CENPK Antibody is added and binds to CENPK in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated CENPK antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of Human CENPK. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.

Background
Component of the CENPA-CAD (nucleosome distal) complex, a complex recruited to centromeres which is involved in assembly of kinetochore proteins, mitotic progression and chromosome segregation. May be involved in incorporation of newly synthesized CENPA into centromeres via its interaction with the CENPA-NAC complex.
