The Human (CFB) Complement Factor B ELISA Kit measures Complement Factor B in samples. The plate has been pre-coated with Human CFB antibody. CFB present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated Human CFB Antibody is added and binds to CFB in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated CFB antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of Human CFB. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.

Background
Factor B which is part of the alternate pathway of the complement system is cleaved by factor D into 2 fragments: Ba and Bb. Bb, a serine protease, then combines with complement factor 3b to generate the C3 or C5 convertase. It has also been implicated in proliferation and differentiation of preactivated B-lymphocytes, rapid spreading of peripheral blood monocytes, stimulation of lymphocyte blastogenesis and lysis of erythrocytes.
