The Human (COLEC12) Collectin-12 ELISA Kit measures Collectin-12 in samples. The plate has been pre-coated with Human COLEC12 antibody. COLEC12 present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated Human COLEC12 Antibody is added and binds to COLEC12 in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated COLEC12 antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of Human COLEC12. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.

Background
Scavenger receptor that displays several functions associated with host defense. Promotes binding and phagocytosis of Gram-positive, Gram-negative bacteria and yeast. Mediates the recognition, internalization and degradation of oxidatively modified low density lipoprotein (oxLDL) by vascular endothelial cells. Binds to several carbohydrates including Gal-type ligands, D-galactose, L- and D-fucose, GalNAc, T and Tn antigens in a calcium-dependent manner and internalizes specifically GalNAc in nurse-like cells.
