The Human (CX3CR1) Cx3C-Chemokine Receptor 1 ELISA Kit measures Cx3C-Chemokine Receptor 1 in samples. The plate has been pre-coated with Human CX3CR1 antibody. CX3CR1 present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated Human CX3CR1 Antibody is added and binds to CX3CR1 in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated CX3CR1 antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of Human CX3CR1. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.

Background
Receptor for the CX3C chemokine fractalkine (CX3CL1); binds to CX3CL1 and mediates both its adhesive and migratory functions (PubMed: 9390561, PubMed: 23125415). Acts as coreceptor with CD4 for HIV-1 virus envelope protein (in vitro) (PubMed: 9726990). Isoform 2 and isoform 3 seem to be more potent HIV-1 coreceptors than isoform 1 (PubMed: 14607932).
