The Human (EGF) Epidermal Growth Factor ELISA Kit measures Epidermal Growth Factor in samples. The plate has been pre-coated with Human EGF antibody. EGF present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated Human EGF Antibody is added and binds to EGF in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated EGF antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of Human EGF. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.

Background
EGF stimulates the growth of various epidermal and epithelial tissues in vivo and in vitro and of some fibroblasts in cell culture. Magnesiotropic hormone that stimulates magnesium reabsorption in the renal distal convoluted tubule via engagement of EGFR and activation of the magnesium Channel TRPM6.
