The Human (ERLIN2) Erlin-2 ELISA Kit measures Erlin-2 in samples. The plate has been pre-coated with Human ERLIN2 antibody. ERLIN2 present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated Human ERLIN2 Antibody is added and binds to ERLIN2 in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated ERLIN2 antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of Human ERLIN2. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.

Component of the ERLIN1/ERLIN2 complex which mediates the endoplasmic reticulum-associated degradation (ERAD) of inositol 1,4,5-trisphosphate receptors (IP3Rs) such as ITPR1 (PubMed: 19240031, PubMed: 17502376). Promotes sterol-accelerated ERAD of HMGCR probably implicating an AMFR/gp78-containing ubiquitin ligase complex (PubMed: 21343306). Involved in regulation of cellular cholesterol homeostasis by regulation the SREBP signaling pathway. May promote ER retention of the SCAP-SREBF complex (PubMed: 24217618).
