Human FABP5 (Fatty Acid Binding Protein 5) ELISA Kit

Human FABP5 (Fatty Acid Binding Protein 5) ELISA Kit

The Human (FABP5) Fatty Acid Binding Protein 5 ELISA Kit measures Fatty Acid Binding Protein 5 in samples. The plate has been pre-coated with Human FABP5 antibody. FABP5 present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated Human FABP5 Antibody is added and binds to FABP5 in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated FABP5 antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of Human FABP5. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.

Research Areas Signal Transduction
Background Intracellular carrier for long-chain fatty acids and related active lipids, such as the endocannabinoid, that regulates the metabolism and actions of the ligands they bind. In addition to the cytosolic transport, selectively delivers specific fatty acids from the cytosol to the nucleus, wherein they activate nuclear receptors (PubMed: 22170058, PubMed: 21395585). Delivers retinoic acid to the nuclear receptor peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor delta; which promotes proliferation and survival. May also serve as a synaptic carrier of endocannabinoid at central synapses and thus controls retrograde endocannabinoid signaling. Modulates inflammation by regulating PTGES induction via NF-kappa-B activation, and prostaglandin E2 (PGE2) biosynthesis during inflammation (By similarity). May be involved in keratinocyte differentiation (PubMed: 8092987). Source: UniProt Consortium (2025)
