Human FAS (Fatty Acid Synthase) ELISA Kit
Human FAS (Fatty Acid Synthase) ELISA Kit
The Human (FAS) Fatty Acid Synthase ELISA Kit measures Fatty Acid Synthase in samples. The plate has been pre-coated with Human FASN antibody. FASN present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated Human FASN Antibody is added and binds to FASN in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated FASN antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of Human FASN. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.

Background
Fatty acid synthetase is a multifunctional enzyme that catalyzes the de novo biosynthesis of long-chain saturated fatty acids starting from acetyl-CoA and malonyl-CoA in the presence of NADPH. This multifunctional protein contains 7 catalytic activities and a site for the binding of the prosthetic group 4'-phosphopantetheine of the acyl carrier protein ([ACP]) domain.
