The Human (FBN1) Fibrillin-1 ELISA Kit measures Fibrillin-1 in samples. The plate has been pre-coated with Human FBLN1 antibody. FBLN1 present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated Human FBLN1 Antibody is added and binds to FBLN1 in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated FBLN1 antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of Human FBLN1. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.

Background
Incorporated into fibronectin-containing matrix fibers. May play a role in cell adhesion and migration along protein fibers within the extracellular matrix (ECM). Could be important for certain developmental processes and contribute to the supramolecular organization of ECM architecture, in particular to those of basement membranes. Has been implicated in a role in cellular transformation and tumor invasion, it appears to be a tumor suppressor. May play a role in haemostasis and thrombosis owing to its ability to bind fibrinogen and incorporate into clots.
