The Human (FBP1) Fructose-1, 6-Bisphosphatase 1 ELISA Kit measures Fructose-1, 6-Bisphosphatase 1 in samples. The plate has been pre-coated with Human FBP1 antibody. FBP1 present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated Human FBP1 Antibody is added and binds to FBP1 in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated FBP1 antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of Human FBP1. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.

Background
Catalyzes the hydrolysis of fructose 1,6-bisphosphate to fructose 6-phosphate in the presence of divalent cations, acting as a rate-limiting enzyme in gluconeogenesis. Plays a role in regulating glucose sensing and insulin secretion of pancreatic beta-cells. Appears to modulate glycerol gluconeogenesis in liver. Important regulator of appetite and adiposity; increased expression of the protein in liver after nutrient excess increases circulating satiety hormones and reduces appetite-stimulating neuropeptides and thus seems to provide a feedback mechanism to limit weight gain.
