The Human (FCN1) Ficolin 1 ELISA Kit measures Ficolin 1 in samples. The plate has been pre-coated with Human FCN1 antibody. FCN1 present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated Human FCN1 Antibody is added and binds to FCN1 in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated FCN1 antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of Human FCN1. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.

Background
Extracellular lectin functioning as a pattern-recognition receptor in innate immunity. Binds the sugar moieties of pathogen-associated molecular patterns (PAMPs) displayed on microbes and activates the lectin pathway of the complement system. May also activate monocytes through a G protein-coupled receptor, FFAR2, inducing the secretion of interleukin-8/IL-8 (PubMed: 21037097).
