The Human (FOLH1) Glutamate Carboxypeptidase 2 ELISA Kit measures Glutamate Carboxypeptidase 2 in samples. The plate has been pre-coated with Human FOLH1 antibody. FOLH1 present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated Human FOLH1 Antibody is added and binds to FOLH1 in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated FOLH1 antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of Human FOLH1. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.

Background
Has both folate hydrolase and N-acetylated-alpha-linked-acidic dipeptidase (NAALADase) activity. Has a preference for tri-alpha-glutamate Peptides. In the intestine, required for the uptake of folate. In the brain, modulates excitatory neurotransmission through the hydrolysis of the neuropeptide, N-aceylaspartylglutamate (NAAG), thereby releasing glutamate. Involved in prostate tumor progression.
