The Human (FOLR1) Folate Receptor Alpha ELISA Kit measures Folate Receptor Alpha in samples. The plate has been pre-coated with Human FOLR1 antibody. FOLR1 present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated Human FOLR1 Antibody is added and binds to FOLR1 in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated FOLR1 antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of Human FOLR1. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.

Background
Binds to folate and reduced folic acid derivatives and mediates delivery of 5-methyltetrahydrofolate and folate analogs into the interior of cells. Has high affinity for folate and folic acid analogs at neutral pH. Exposure to slightly acidic pH after receptor endocytosis triggers a conformation change that strongly reduces its affinity for folates and mediates their release.
