The Human (GALP) Galanin-like Peptide ELISA Kit measures Galanin-Like Peptide in samples. The plate has been pre-coated with Human GALP antibody. GALP present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated Human GALP Antibody is added and binds to GALP in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated GALP antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of Human GALP. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.

Background
[Isoform 1]: Hypothalamic neuropeptide which binds to the G-protein-coupled galanin receptors (GALR1, GALR2 and GALR3). Involved in a large number of putative physiological functions in CNS homeostatic processes, including the regulation of gonadotropin-releasing hormone secretion. [Isoform 2]: Exhibits potent and dose-dependent vasoconstrictor and anti-edema activity in the cutaneous microvasculature, a physiologic effects which does not appear to be mediated via GALR1 or GALR2.
